NHL 2014-15 Season Bold Predictions
With the 2014-15 NHL Regular Season 50 days away, there are some predictions to be made. Some will be more absurd than others, but if they are written on here, it is because I have some semblance of a thought that it could, could happen. Without any further adieu, lets start off with:
Anaheim Ducks
Prediction: The Anaheim Ducks will win the Stanley Cup
Arizona Coyotes
Prediction: Keith Yandle will be moved before the NHL Trade Deadline
Boston Bruins
Prediction: The Boston Bruins will finish 3rd in the Atlantic and barely miss the playoffs
Buffalo Sabres
Prediction: The Buffalo Sabres will win the Connor McDavid sweepstakes
Calgary Flames
Prediction: Jonas Hiller will be a contender for the Vezina
Carolina Hurricanes
Prediction: Jordan Staal will have a bounce-back season; score 60+ points
Chicago Blackhawks
Prediction: Brandon Saad AND Patrick Sharp will finish the season on different teams
Colorado Avalanche
Prediction: Matt Duchene will be a Hart Trophy finalist
Columbus Blue Jackets
Prediction: Ryan Johansen will accumulate 90+ points
Dallas Stars
Prediction: The Dallas Stars will make it to the Western Conference Finals
Detroit Redwings
Prediction: The Detroit Redwings DO NOT make the playoffs
Edmonton Oilers
Prediction: The Edmonton Oilers will make the playoffs, under the guidance of Dan Bylsma
Florida Panthers
Prediction: Roberto Luongo will win 35+ games
Los Angeles Kings
Prediction: Marian Gaborik will score 40+ goals
Minnesota Wild
Prediction: Thomas Vanek and Zach Parise will be the most dangerous winger duo in the league
Montreal Canadiens
Prediction: PK Subban will win his second Norris Trophy
Nashville Predators
Prediction: James Neal will score less than 20 goals
New Jersey Devils
Prediction: The New Jersey Devils will score a combined 225+ goals as a team AND win a shootout
New York Islanders
Prediction: The New York Islanders will win the Metropolitan Division
New York Rangers
Prediction: Rick Nash will be traded at the NHL Trade Deadline due to poor performance
Ottawa Senators
Prediction: Robin Lehner becomes the No. 1 guy in net for the Ottawa Senators by the midway point
Philadelphia Flyers
Prediction: Sean Couterier surpasses Claude Giroux as the most valuable player on the Philadelphia Flyers
Pittsburgh Penguins
Prediction: Zach Sill becomes a permanent fixture on the fourth line
San Jose Sharks
Prediction: Patrick Marleau AND Antti Niemi both get traded
St. Louis Blues
Prediciton: Magnus Paajarvi AND Vladimir Tarasenko will both have 50+ points
Tampa Bay Lightning
Prediction: The Tampa Bay Lightning will win the Atlantic Division, advance to the Stanley Cup Finals and Steven Stamkos will win the Hart Trophy
Toronto Maple Leafs
Prediction: Nazem Kadri will lead the team in scoring
Washington Capitals
Prediction: Niklas Backstrom will lead the team in scoring and surpass Alexander Ovechkin as the superior talent

Prediction: Evander Kane AND Dustin Byfuglien will be traded
Vancouver Canucks
Prediction: Radim Vrbata will score 35+ goals
