Rest Easy My Pounding Heart, Pt. 2 (2012)
Original Story
February 23, 2016
*Originally written January, 2012*
The second installment of the "Rest Easy My Pounding Heart" series includes the story specifically told from the male point of view. The piece is overly sappy and sentimental, but tells the story of someone who is purely elated to finally have what he never thought he could attain. It is a piece that's filled with romantic musings as well as a sense of desperation and obsession.
It's told in the style of a phone conversation and combines dialogue from both him and her in the early stages of the relationship.

Rest Easy My Pounding Heart, Pt. 2
I said:
“And baby,
I don’t know how I
Became so fortunate
To have my dreams
Come true when you
Walked into my life.
I am awake now,
I am alive now.
We live within
Vibrant gleams of white.
The path ahead looks unobstructed,
Just as I prayed for.
And baby,
I don’t know if I
Have enough words
To say how perfect
You truly are,
Being the angel blessed upon me.
These will never cover my love for you.
These sentiments can only mean so much.
We live within
Vibrant gleams of white.
The path ahead looks unobstructed,
Just as I prayed for.
And baby,
I don’t know when
This will all settle in:
Rest easy my pounding heart.
Fate finally giving me a break,
I will never let this go.
Do you hear me?
I will cherish you forever, my love.”
“Do you see us forever?” she proposed quietly.
“I do,” I stated.
“Do you know you truly feel this way?” she asked incredulously.
“I do,” I announced fully.
