Pens New GM, Neal Wants Out?, WBS Advance to Game 6
Just a quick hit on some updates and news regarding the Penguins:
- In a string of recent posts by Dejan Kovacevic, the buzz around Pittsburgh is that by the middle of this upcoming week, potentially earlier, that management will announce the new General Manager for the Penguins. The posts also suggest that the search was "exhaustive" and "highly encouraging."
I’m told to expect @Penguins new GM early/middle of next week. Front office search exhaustive and, from what I’ve heard, highly encouraging.

- I have heard numerous people suggest that LW James Neal wants out of Pittsburgh whether it be by trade or a buy out. Another rumor suggested that Winnipeg and Pittsburgh had discussions involving Evander Kane for Neal. While the deal would be a no-brainer from this end, I find that rumor to good to be true. If there is any traction to it, whoever the new GM is better the pull the trigger immediately.
- Speaking of the Winnipeg Jets, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defeated the St. John's IceCaps at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza on Saturday night by a score of 4-2 to bring the series to a 3-2 advantage for the IceCaps. St. John's won the first two games in Wilkes-Barre (5-0, 2-1) to take a two-game series advantage. Goals by Spencer Machacek, two from Chuck Kobasew (the tying goal at 2-2, and ENG), and the GWG scored by Zach Sill propelled the Penguins to play a Game 6 back in St. Johns. At the end of Game 5, over 120 penalty minutes were dished out to both squads as a line brawl took place in the final six seconds of the contest.
