Mountain Monsters
What do you get when you gather a group of West Virginia hillbillies who are tracking down the Appalachian Mountains most dangerous and fabled creatures?
You get Mountain Monsters and boy, do you get some good entertainment.
The show is not the greatest show ever created, nor is it the worst. It is very similar to shows like Ghost Hunters, Is It Real?, and others of the same ilk, however, Mountain Monsters does what I feel no other show like it achieves.
It maintains an innocence and creates emotion towards these people. The crew of Trapper, Huckleberry, Jeff, Buck, Willy and Wild Bill are just your run of the mill West Virginians who are out for good adventures with good friends. That is what makes this show so fun; the people genuinely care about what they are doing and you believe them every second on screen. The AIMS crew seems like the perfect bunch to just hang out with with a nice mason jar of moonshine, talking about the Wampus monster or the Grassman, or the Yahoo, West Virginia's Bigfoot.
The best part for me is the excitement that these men show conducting interviews, gathering information and researching tracks/pictures/videos, and creating traps for these oh-so-elusive creatures. That excitement is contagious and you can simply picture that these men were doing the same kind of thing when they were in their very younger years.
Mountain Monsters is an action packed, thrilling hour of entertainment that the whole family can enjoy and not many shows can say that now. The show currently runs on Destination America on Fridays at 10 P.M. If you're unsure if you have Destination America through your cable provider, you can check on their website at www.destinationamerica.com
